And come one, come all to our annual Open House & Reception on May 1.

Water 101 Workshop: April 10

Image shows audience at the Water 101 workshop.Registration closes in less than a week for our Water 101 Workshop, a once-a-year daylong course on California water hosted at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento! View an agenda here for our popular workshop taught by some of the state’s leading policy and legal experts that details the historical, legal and political facets of water management in the state.

Whether you’re a rookie water professional in need of a great statewide primer or a veteran water wonk just wanting a thorough refresher, you don’t want to miss this program!

Workshop participants are also able to grab one of the few remaining seats on the optional watershed tour April 11 from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada along the American River to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, including a lunch cruise on the Sacramento River aboard the River City Queen. Find more details and register here by this Monday, April 7!

Exclusive Sponsorships Available

The workshop is a prime networking opportunity for the water professionals in attendance, and exclusive sponsorships of the networking breaks are still available! View details of the various sponsorship levels and benefits here and reach out to Programs Director Nick Gray via email with any questions.

Central Valley Tour: April 23-25

Our Central Valley Tour travels the length of the San Joaquin Valley where water supply and use have been in the national headlines, including our first stop at San Luis Reservoir near Los Banos. The fifth-largest reservoir in the state has been in the news recently because plans to raise its dam are moving forward, which will create 130,000 acre-feet of additional water for off-stream storage used by both the federal Central Valley Project and California’s State Water Project.

Throughout this 3-day, 2-night tour you’ll learn directly from farmers, water managers, disadvantaged communities and others about how they’re working to meet the region’s challenges while sustaining one of the nation’s most productive agricultural regions that relies on imported surface water and diminishing groundwater. Register here before tickets are gone!

Water 101 Workshop: The Basics & Beyond
One-day workshop included an optional watershed tour the next day

One of our most popular events, our annual Water 101 Workshop detailed the history, geography, legal and political facets of water in California as well as hot topics currently facing the state.

Attendees went beyond the stream of recent national headlines and gained a deeper understanding of how water is managed and moved across the Golden State during this once-a-year opportunity from the only organization in California providing comprehensive, unbiased information about water resources across the West.

Taught by some of the leading policy and legal experts in California, the one-day workshop on April 10 gave attendees a great statewide primer on the state’s most precious natural resource.
