          With National Groundwater Awareness Week approaching and 2024 marking the 10ᵗʰ anniversary of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act in California, these Water Education Foundation tours and events will help you gain a deeper understanding of groundwater fundamentals and the work being done to bring aquifers into balance. Water 101 Workshop, April 5
   Our annual daylong course on
  California water includes a session on
  the Fundamentals of California
  Groundwater, which will provide an overview of the
  state’s groundwater resources, its importance in the state’s
  water supply, its history of use and overuse and the Sustainable
  Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Learn what other topics will

  Water 101 workshop.The tour will travel to farms, cities
  and facilities in the Sacramento region to learn firsthand about
  groundwater management. You’ll hear from organizations
  working to meet SGMA requirements and speakers who will
  address subsidence, recharge, groundwater quality, conjunctive
  use and more. Register

   This 3-day tour travels the length
  of the San Joaquin Valley, which has struggled with either too
  much water via floods or little to no surface water
  deliveries. The Valley also faces increasing pressure to reduce
  groundwater use to sustainable levels while dealing
  with water quality and access challenges for disadvantaged
  communities. Renowned groundwater expert Thomas Harter will be
  on board providing context for the three days as the tour
  explores topics such as groundwater banking and recharge,
  agricultural and domestic supply, subsidence and more. Register
