Description: This FREE institute would focus on floodplain ecosystems, floodplain restoration, the multiple uses floodplains serve in our region and the careers and career pathways related to floodplain ecology. We will highlight the exciting work being done in this region around restoration, monitoring and implementation of ecosystem services in managed floodways.
You’ll learn how floodplains are used in this region and current research being conducted around floodplain use and ecology, while learning and practicing field research skills. Curriculum training in both Project WET and EEI (Education & the Environment Initiative) and guided planning time will prepare you to bring the new knowledge and skills back to the classroom.
Additionally, the institute will include information about the many careers in this region related to floodplains, allowing you to incorporate career readiness and career pathways knowledge into the curriculum, especially in relation to our regions floodplain and water management needs.
