Description: The Central Valley Floodplain Ecology Institute will include examples of NGSS aligned curriculum with a focus on California water issues, watershed ecology, and California habitats. The five types of California wetlands will be investigated: riverine, palustrine, marine, lacustrine, and estuarine. During the institute, participants will get to:
Meet and learn from leading water scientists and researchers;
Engage in California Science Standards aligned field study and data collection techniques and California Science Standards (NGSS) lesson planning strategies;
Explore a variety of wetland ecosystems by charter bus;
Receive FREE Education and the Environment Initiative (EEI), Project WET and other valuable classroom resources;
Have opportunities to receive optional university credit – 2 Units via Fresno State – AND a $200 stipend upon completion of a classroom integration project!
