Webinar: Water Resources Applications of the Cold War Plowshares Program
This webcast by the Groundwater Resources Association of California will explore the largely forgotten history and vast applications of the Plowshare Program, a federal government project in the 1960s to explore using nuclear explosives for industrial and scientific purposes. Water resource applications included dams, canals, groundwater recharge and storage, and waste water disposal. One proposal included the West Side Conveyance System studied by DWR to import Trinity River water into the Sacramento Valley.
