On September 17, 2025, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board or Board) will hold a public hearing to consider designating the Kern County Subbasin as probationary under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), as part of efforts to ensure groundwater resources will be available into the future for people to use. As identified in Resolution No. 2025-0007, this is a continuance of the February 20, 2025 Kern County Subbasin probationary designation public hearing. The deadline for written comments is 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
