State Water Resources Control Board Meeting
The State Water Resources Control Board will hold a public meeting on August 5 at the CalEPA headquarters in Sacramento to consider approving an amendment to the Santa Ana River Basin Water Quality Control Plan that establishes Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for copper in Newport Bay, addressing ongoing water quality exceedances largely caused by copper from antifouling boat paints. The proposed amendment includes numeric targets for copper in both water and sediment, along with an implementation plan to reduce copper pollution.
