Mono Lake at 20
Past, Present and Future
This year is the 20th anniversary of the State Water Resources Control Board’s landmark decision to protect Mono Lake and its tributary creeks by amending the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s water rights. Decision 1631 was the first in the state’s history to integrate the Water Code, Fish and Game Code and the common law of public trust.
UC Berkeley Law’s Wheeler Institute for Water Law and Policy and stakeholders in the Mono Lake cases are convening a one-day symposium to discuss how the decision was implemented and what it means today. The Water Education Foundation is a cosponsor of this symposium.
