Almost a month after invasive golden mussels were discovered at the Port of West Sacramento, Yolo supervisors are expected to declare a state of emergency. The resolution by supervisors, expected to take place at their Tuesday meeting, would allow county government to formally request money from the state to assist in mitigation and control. No fiscal effect associated with the resolution is expected, according to a report from county administrators. Ratification of the declaration will support the county’s ability to seek state and federal assistance with associated costs. … The recommended action is also consistent with the regional response already underway — San Joaquin and Sacramento counties as well as the city of Stockton have each proclaimed a local emergency with regard to the same infestation.
