U.S. Drought Monitor Update
From the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Climatic Data Center (NCDC):
“According to the March 4, 2014, U.S. Drought Monitor, moderate to exceptional drought covers 35.9% of the contiguous United States, a slight decrease from last week’s 36.1%. … Weather systems moving in the westerly flow brought above-normal precipitation to much of the West, parts of the Gulf of Mexico Coast, and in a swath from the Mid-Mississippi Valley to Central Appalachians.”
