Troubled, forgotten slough in the heart of Stockton getting some positive attention
It’s hard to envision the vibrant landscape that the Mormon Slough could become if Restore the Delta’s community-focused efforts finally bear fruit. The 6.5 mile slough is mostly dry on its westerly trek from about two miles east of Highway 99 through central Stockton to the San Joaquin River. It used to be a natural drainage channel for excess water from the Calaveras River but was intentionally cut off in 1910 ….
