Spotlight on Pinto Lake Pollution Spurs Action

“Deadly toxins lurk in Pinto Lake on the outskirts of Watsonville. … Yet, concern about the pollution largely has been restricted to a small group of advocates and researchers.
“That changed in 2013 as the problem at the 8,000-year-old lake described by one advocate as Watsonville’s backyard was featured in an online National Geographic article and a National Wildlife Foundation and Resource Media study that called the lake one of the most toxic in the country.”
