Pajaro flood management agency gets caught in political crossfire
Less than four months after a levee breach on the Pajaro River Levee flooded the community of Pajaro, a relatively new agency that was formed to plan and implement flood control projects is already in jeopardy of losing a key partner and nearly $1 million in funding. … There are five agencies from Monterey and Santa Cruz counties that are part of the flood management agency. At a meeting earlier this month, Santa Cruz County leaders advised the agency they were willing to contribute only half of the $1 million promised, so they could devote the other half to flood protection efforts in the College Lake area of Watsonville.
