News Release: Governor Brown to Join President Obama in the Central Valley
From the Office of Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.:
“With California facing one of its driest years on record, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will join President Barack Obama, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Congressman Jim Costa and other agriculture, water and community leaders today [Feb. 14] in the Fresno area for a roundtable discussion with farmers and other local stakeholders affected by the drought, and a visit to a local farm.
“Today’s events follow a phone conversation with President Obama last month about crucial federal support during the drought and the state’s ongoing partnership with the federal government to address the impacts. Governor Brown declared a drought State of Emergency last month and directed state officials to take all necessary actions to prepare for water shortages.”
