Marin’s new creek rules raise procedure, enforcement questions
Marin County’s code enforcement program is receiving increased scrutiny following the adoption of an ordinance that prohibits new building along San Geronimo Creek and its tributaries. In March, the Board of Supervisors adopted an ordinance empowering the county to fine residents up to $500 per day for code violations. In May, the county announced it had reached a tentative settlement over the ordinance with the Salmon Protection and Watershed Network, or SPAWN.
