Lawsuit claims illegal cattle grazing harming Gila River
A lawsuit filed by several environmental groups claims that the federal government has failed to protect endangered species by controlling illegal cattle grazing on the Gila River. The Center for Biological Diversity and the Maricopa Audubon Society filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Tucson, seeking to force the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove cattle from a long stretch of the Gila River below Coolidge Dam.
