This year, calls to protect Lake Tahoe come as the Trump administration cuts funding for climate change research and reduces staffing at public land management agencies. … Schiff, who sits on the Senate’s agriculture committee, told SFGATE on Tuesday aboard the John LeConte that he is “deeply concerned” about cuts to the Forest Service. … [H]e told SFGATE he wants to carry on [former Sen. Dianne] Feinstein’s legacy and continue to advocate for Lake Tahoe.
