We’ve expanded our digital Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta library. You can now virtually visit the Delta by watching a series of short videos that show its multiple dimensions: a hub of California’s water supply, an agricultural cornucopia, a water playground and a haven for fish and other wildlife.

Remembering Bob Johnson

The Water Education Foundation is mourning the passing of its former Board President, Bob Johnson, who served as Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner from 2006-2009.

Before becoming commissioner, Johnson had spent more than 30 years at Reclamation. He worked most extensively in the Colorado River Basin, serving as the secretary of the Interior’s senior manager responsible for carrying out the secretary’s responsibilities as “water master” of the lower Colorado River. As Commissioner, he oversaw the water and power programs of the nation’s largest water wholesaler and second-largest producer of hydropower.

He joined the Water Education Foundation board in 2013, becoming the nonprofit’s president in 2017 and its past president in 2020. The Board of Directors and staff very much miss his humor, kindness and collaborative spirit that embodied the Foundation’s mission of bringing diverse voices together and building sound and collective solutions to water challenges.
