Climate Scientist Daniel Swain to Share Latest Insights on Historic El Niño at Oct. 29 Water Summit
Full Agenda Now Available; Exclusive Sponsorship Opportunities Nearly Gone

The growing likelihood of a historic El Niño season has already triggered statewide emergency preparations, raising important questions about what lies ahead for California’s water systems, infrastructure and communities.

At the Foundation’s 42nd Annual Water Summit on October 29 in Sacramento, renowned weather and climate scientist Daniel Swain will share the latest outlook on El Niño conditions and what the recent forecast of the heaviest precipitation hitting in January could mean for California.

Swain, a leading voice on climate and extreme events – droughts, storms and wildfires – in the American West, works at University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources within the California Institute for Water Resources. He is known for translating complex science into clear, accessible insights, helping policymakers, water managers and the public better understand extreme weather, climate change and associated natural hazards.

The Water Summit, the Foundation’s premier event of the year, brings together top policymakers and experts addressing the most pressing water challenges facing California and the West. Seating is limited and nearly full, so register here while it lasts!

This year’s theme, Stewarding a New Era in Western Water, will feature timely discussions on critical issues, including:

  • The legislative mandate to identify 9 million acre-feet of additional water supply in California by 2040
  • The need for clarity in the ongoing AI/data center discourse related to water resources management
  • The latest developments in desalination efforts and their implications for the arid West

A full draft agenda is now available offering a preview of the innovative ideas, policy discussions and expert perspectives shaping the future of water management. As previously announced, the day will open with a keynote address from Tom Gibson, the new director of California’s Department of Water Resources.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from Swain and join the conversations driving the next chapter of Western water. Register today before tickets sell out.

Coveted Sponsorships Nearly Gone

Time is running out for current Foundation member organizations to sponsor the Water Summit, a prime networking opportunity for the water professionals in attendance.

Why sponsor the Water Summit?

  • Gain recognition for your organization at one of California’s premier water conferences attended by decision-makers, water agency staff & board members, state & federal agency representatives, and many more
  • Receive complimentary tickets to attend the event for members of your organization and/or your guests
  • Enjoy several exclusive sponsor benefits including increased visibility during networking portions of the event

Both exclusive and general sponsor opportunities are available but they’re going fast! View details of the various sponsorship levels and benefits here and contact Patrick Dunlap for more information.
