Description: Join American River Conservancy’s Environmental Education team for an immersive series of workshops and field experiences that will provide you with the confidence to bring climate science concepts into your classroom.

The American River Conservancy has created the Empowering Educators for Climate Action in El Dorado County Initiative, which aims to train teachers in the region to implement place-based environmental education curricula focusing on climate change.

This project will enhance environmental education for local schools and promote community-centered conservation by empowering educators to engage students and extend ARC’s educational impact beyond its current programs.

The initiative will involve providing workshops for how to use Project WET, Project Wild, and Project Learning Tree resources, and emphasizing climate-related activities. Support will be provided to participating teachers, including stipends, access to materials, and substitute teacher coverage.

A field trip will allow teachers to see ARC’s restoration efforts at the Cosumnes River headwaters, including the installation of beaver dam analogs and water monitoring sites. This hands-on, field experience will allow teachers to connect what they are doing in the workshops with real-world experience of how ARC does land conservation and stewardship.
