Blue-green algae health concerns for humans and animals
Warm temperatures are here and when conditions are right, blue-green algae can rapidly bloom on the surface of reservoirs, rivers, creeks, lagoons, lakes and ponds. San Joaquin County Public Health and Environmental Health officials, and the state Regional Water Quality Control Board, are urging swimmers, boaters, and recreational water users to avoid contact with blue-green algae, also known as cyanobacteria.
