We occassionally are able to host college students as summer
interns. If you are interested in an internship, send an
email to
Jenn Bowles, our executive director, to find out if we have
any available.
Are you a journalist enthralled by
the history, policy and science behind Western water issues? The
journalism team at the Water Education Foundation is looking for
a full-time writer who is knowledgeable about the most precious
natural resource in California and the Colorado River Basin,
enjoys a fast-paced environment and possesses strong
reporting, writing and multimedia skills.
The ideal candidate has experience reporting and writing in-depth
articles as well as shorter enterprise articles, posting breaking
news on social media channels and staying current on Western
water issues. Our stories often explore the science, policy and
debates centered around drought, groundwater, sustainability,
water access and affordability, climate change and endangered
species involving key sources of supply such as the Colorado
River and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
The Water Education Foundation is
looking for a freelance journalist to curate Aquafornia, our weekday compilation of top
water news from around California and the West.
The Aquafornia curator is a remote position ideally suited for a
journalist who wants to keep up on water news and is an early
riser. The curator scours the Internet starting about 6 a.m.
(Pacific Time) for the latest water stories, commentaries
and news releases and assembles them on our website. The
curator remotely joins our journalism team about 8:30 a.m. as it
decides the news lineup and makes other adjustments.
This is a contractor position — about 2.5 to 3 hours a day
— that reports to our Deputy
Director, News & Publications. The role requires someone who
can work independently and collaborate well with others in a
fast-paced digital environment.
