Description: During this week, participating teachers will be able to:
- Engage with our coastal bioregion, explore the impact of global environmental issues like climate change on local ecosystems, and investigate the science of the shoreline at local beaches;
- Practice weaving outdoor learning and local community issues into valuable environmental literacy experiences for all students; and access learning resources that support environmentally themed Community Action Projects, including a Project WET activity or two;
- Experience an 5E instructional sequence that is specific to your grade, phenomenon based, and integrated with NGSS and Common Core… and then collaborate with peers to create your own 5E instructional sequence with guidance from a grade-level teacher leader;
- Attend your choice of short courses on a variety of topics including a cohort for STEM coaches or anyone wanting strategies on how to share NGSS with their school site or district;
- Use local places for context and NGSS instructional strategies for method, with environmental literacy as our goal!
In addition, 2 Academic units are purchasable from CSU Channel Islands and we are now offering a High School cohort in addition to K-8!
