Description: The California Department of Water Resources, Glenn County Office of Education, Inland Northern Science Project and Water Education Foundation invite Sacramento Valley K-12 educators to a flood-focused Project WET workshop.
Join us to learn about the benefits that floodplains provide for wildlife, agriculture, and nearby communities.
Hear from scientists about projects designed to reconnect floodplain areas along the Sacramento River to improve flood protection for communities along the river, while improving passage for migrating salmon, migrating waterfowl habitat and climate resiliency. Participants will also learn about the value floodplains provide for farming in the Sacramento Valley.
For a $20 registration fee, participants in this workshop will receive:
- An overview of the Central Valley Flood Protection system and the value floodplain ecosystems provide from flood science experts;
- Field experiences to the Hamilton City J Levee Restoration Project & Massa Organics;
- Training in Project WET activities to engage students in the study of flood science concepts and copy of Project WET Guide 2.0;
- A light breakfast and lunch,
- An opportunity to receive CEU credit
- And a $100 stipend – and return of your registration fee - following completion of the training.
