Resources Secretary Speaker Series: Growing Green Schoolyards
This presentation explores opportunities to provide California’s school children with the benefits of school yard gardens. Climate-driven extreme heat threatens Californians, especially kids and other vulnerable populations. Replacing asphalt in school yards with shade trees, plants, and gardens supports children’s physical and mental health. Green schoolyards also sequester and store carbon, create habitat for biodiversity, and provide outdoor learning opportunities.
