“Land in California’s Central Valley is sinking. The US Geological Survey has released a study showing the extent of the problem. The area of sinking land is much larger than originally believed.
“USGS Hydrologist Michelle Sneed stands next to the Delta Mendota Canal in the Central Valley pointing to an area where the concrete lining is cracked and buckled. Sneed says it’s likely caused by subsidence, when the ground sinks.”
