Thursday Top of the Scroll: Drought-stricken farmers in California’s Central Valley promised billions in water projects
Led by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, federal and state leaders on Wednesday pledged “once in a generation” investments in water projects to help farmers in California’s central San Joaquin Valley through a crippling drought. … Haaland and others used the news conference to highlight ways they said the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act would benefit Central Valley farmers. President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law on Tuesday. The legislation, which was opposed by all Republican representatives, includes $4 billion for water management and conservation efforts across the west, according to a news release from the Department of the Interior.
