Redding Set to Shatter Record for Driest Year as ‘Drought’ Conditions Set to Persist

“Forecasters say Redding is all but certain to break the record for the driest year set in 1932 with 14.9 inches. … It gets even worse.
“The Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center on Thursday issued its precipitation outlook for January 2014 — the North State has a 40 percent chance of having below normal precipitation — compared with most of the country, which has about an equal chance of being below, normal or above average.”
