Record-Low Snowpack Adds to Region’s Water-Supply Woes

“With 2013 setting dry-weather records and 2014 looking potentially parched as well, California received another grim report on the water-supply front Friday: a record-low snowpack.
“The water content of snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, which melts each year to provide a third of the state’s water supply, was about 20 percent of average for this time of year, the state Department of Water Resources announced.”
