“Anyone who thinks there is no real human impact caused by the government shutdown should consider what was supposed to happen from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at New Melones Lake.
“C.A.S.T. for Kids is a fishing event held periodically for children with a wide range of special needs. “Catch a Special Thrill,” the acronym means.
“The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced today that Saturday’s event has been canceled, along with other events at New Melones, which has been closed because it is a federal reservoir.”
