The Fate of the Jewel (60-minute version)

Renowned for its crystal clear waters and deep cobalt blue, Lake Tahoe has long been regarded as the crown jewel of the Sierra Nevada. Yet the lake’s famous clarity has declined significantly over the past 30 years launching a bi-state, multi-agency effort to stop and reverse this decline. The multi-agency, multi-stakeholder effort to reverse the decline and save the lake is told in this public television documentary, The Fate of the Jewel. Hosted by Actor Bruce Dern and produced in conjunction with KNPB in Reno, Nev., this hour-long documentary will air on PBS stations in the fall of 2001.
