Description: Join us at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center for a workshop experience exploring the use of watershed models and remote sensing to tools to study the role water plays in weather and climate feedback mechanisms that connect the Sacramento – San Joaquin River and San Francisco Bay watershed from summit to the sea!
You will receive tools and tips that can be applied in the classroom to help your students explore natural systems, investigate local environments as a context for learning while analyzing, problem-solving and communicating geoscience data and become empowered to participate in decision-making about complex natural resource management issues.
Participants will be among the first to be introduced to California Coastal Voices - the California Coastal Commission newest curricular resource for Secondary teachers - and built from the ground up based on California’s Next Generation Science and Common Core Standards with a strong focus on environmental literacy and project-based learning.
Participants will also receive a copy of Project WET Guide 2.0 with access to over 110 water focused activities and we’ll explore the history and programs on the Hayward Shoreline with the Interpretive Center staff. This workshop will take place both inside and outside the classroom!
