2010 Water & Climate Change Adaptation Symposium: From the Sierra to the Ocean
From the Sierra to the ocean, the effect of climate change on water resources will be felt throughout the watershed. The October 19-20, 2010 Water & Climate Change Adaptation Symposium: From the Sierra to the Ocean at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach will highlight linkages between freshwater and coastal impacts, and focus on adaptation planning and emerging science issues and trends. It will also serve as a forum for engaging federal agency partners in an ongoing coordination process.
Severe weather, a less-explored effect of climate change - and one with its implications for increased flooding and coastal inundation - is a special feature of this 1-1/2 day symposium sponsored by the California Department of Water Resources and the Water Education Foundation. The symposium, held in coordination with the Ocean Protection Council, also will provide updates on impacts of climate change to Southern California water supplies.
This symposium is especially intended for water agency board members and staff and city and county representatives interested in the latest thinking on adaptation as it may affect their jurisdictions.
Symposium Topics Include:
- Adaptation Planning Actions
- State of the Climate and Breaking Science News
- Extreme Events/Severe Weather - What Can We Predict?
- Green Adaptation Opportunities
