Whiskeytown Dam Anniversary: How a Small Dam Brought In a Huge Cash Flow and a President to North State

“On Sept. 28, 1963, President John F. Kennedy delivered his last public speech.
“Standing on top of Whiskeytown Dam, he dedicated the massive dirt construction in front of a crowd of 10,000 people.
“On Saturday, 50 years later, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area paid tribute to Kennedy in honor of his historic visit to the North State. The park’s impact continues to make ripples. Whiskeytown has shaped the face of Northern California and waded into key issues such as water rights.”
