“First Snow Survey of 2014 Shows Dry Conditions” headlined a Jan. 3 news release from the California Department of Water Resources, which generated weekend news coverage. “Sierra Snow Survey Points to Dry Year Ahead” was an article in The Sacramento Bee, which also ran the editorial, “Water Situation Dire, Requires Action.” “No Relief Forecast After One Of California’s Driest Years Ever” was a report from NPR. Also, “Drought Reveals Real Threat to Ag Community” was a commentary in The Fresno Bee.
