BDCP: Aquafornia Water Word of the Week
Making headlines recently, Aquafornia’s Water Word of the Week is actually an acronym, but look for BDCP on sister site Aquapedia in both the Useful Acronyms section and under the more than 200 definitions of water terms.
Spelled out, the BDCP abbreviation is Bay Delta Conservation Plan. Aquapedia entries are cross-referenced, so it’s easy to click to the Water Terms section for the complete BDCP definition.
An excerpt from Aquapedia’s comprehensive BDCP entry includes the following: “The Bay Delta Conservation Plan is a permitting process for long-term project permits for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta that centers on co-equal goals of species conservation and improving water supplies and delivery.” Sections titled “BDCP Overview” and “BDCP and the Delta Plan” are also included.
In addition, many Foundation and other resources are available to learn more. The Foundation offers its “Layperson’s Guide to the Delta,” “Levees and Flood Protection: a Shared Responsibility, Western Water, May/June 2012,” “All About the Delta” and “Why the Delta matters to every Californian” on Aquafornia, “Setting a Course: the California Bay-Delta,” a video and DVD available in two lengths, and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Map — to name several.
